Lyrical Dance

Here's an example of lyrical dance on youtube -

Lyrical dance is when we move to the words of music. We move to the lyrics of the song, inspired by the meaning and what the song is saying.

It is often a flowy, freeform style of movement. Technically, Lyrical is a mix of Ballet and Jazz. We will learn how to tell a story through our movements. Students will learn fluid technique, expressive choreography, flexibility, balance, control, and musical interpretation.

It is best for kids to wear tennis shoes for hip hop class.

Ballet

An example of what ballet can look like -

Students learn the foundations of ballet, a beautiful form of dance that is focused on alignment of the body. Ballet is one of the most prevalent forms of dance, and encompasses hundreds of years of study of the human body. For anyone wanting to dance, ballet can be beneficial.

In our children's ballet classes, we also mix in creative movement. This is where we get to use our imaginations and dance in fun, silly ways! We will pretend to be animals such as dinosaurs or elephants and practice a wide range of motion, from crawling and wiggling and twirling and freezing.

All of our classes incorporate movements that have been shown to be essential to human neurodevelopment. In this day and age of technology, it's so important for kids to move in a wide variety of ways!

At the Creative Arts Dance Center, we specialize in teaching beginner ballet. We believe everyone can benefit from learning dance.
