Hi! I'm Amy

I love dance, and I love helping kids discover the joy of dance and creative expression!

I've been teaching children to dance for over 6 years. I trained at Viterbo University and the Broadway Dance Center in New York City. I recently moved back to Wisconsin after living in New York City and opened the Creative Arts Dance Center in Holmen, Wisconsin, to share what I have learned.

Kids are often told to sit down, listen, do as they are told - but they need a place where they can jump, play, dance, and sing!

I want to create that space for your children. Every kiddo deserves the chance to dance, and I've made it my mission to bring dance to areas around my hometown that don't have as many places to dance. With a location in Sparta, Holmen, and Arcadia, it has been so much fun seeing kids dance!

I endlessly study art and want to pour out into others here in this community.

7 Principles

IN EVERY CLASS

MOVEMENT

Kids don’t move enough anymore. We will be moving the entire class! Movement is key to brain development. I intentionally incorporate key movements for healthy brain development according to Anne Green Gilbert's Brain Dance.

CREATIVITY

I’m a firm believer that kids shouldn’t only learn to do as they are told. Kids need a safe space to explore their own voice and make their own decisions. In class, they will have the opportunity to express themselves and create their own dances! Each person has their own unique ideas. We will learn to create and invent together.

FUN!

Okay, we’re also going to have a TON of fun!

CONFIDENCE

Your kiddo isn’t a number in class or in a program. We practice decision making, introducing themselves, presenting themselves, and taking up space! In life, kids are told to sit down and be quiet - our class teaches kids to express themselves and love who they are!

RESILIENCE

I believe the more we can expose kids to healthy coping skills, the more tools they will have to be prepared for the future. Every class incorporates principles from the Alexander Technique, somatic awareness, “body listening,” and basic interoception practices. These practices have been demonstrated to heal trauma and build resiliency.

CONNECTION

Dancing alone is fun, but dancing together is magical! When everyone moves together, we feel a part of something bigger ourselves.

DANCE

And, of course, they will learn the basic fundamentals of dance! Depending on the class, kids will learn the foundations of ballet, groove, and rhythm. Kids will practice being able to access all their facilities and develop a strong base whether they would like to continue dance in the future or not.
